With many questioning whether hospitality can cater for careers, we look at how its future can still be bright with your help
While the pandemic and Brexit have impacted the sector, they actually just accelerated an issue that had been around for a long time: that fewer and fewer young people are choosing hospitality as a career.
Research tells us that they’re looking for careers offering progression, and don’t believe this is really possible or clear in hospitality1.
With this in mind, it’s no surprise that The State of Hospitality 2022 report has predicted a hospitality talent gap of 13-14 million people over the next five years2.
This, however is far from reality! What is viewed as ‘unskilled’ should be reframed as entry level as there is a wide variety in the types of roles available with many opportunities to rise quickly into management positions. Working in hospitality also provides experience in softer skills such as communication,
confidence, and thinking on your feet. With your help, we can provide young people with the right information and guidance.
We believe young people aren’t aware of all the opportunities that exist in hospitality. So, it’s our goal to unite the industry to show what’s really possible for young people. Break the stereotypes and myths. Shine a light on the fulfilment and excitement that working in hospitality brings.
